...so after hearing Dorothy's message on my voicemail, calling my Mum in a teary fit, and a night of good sleep followed by a morning buongiorno / call to Enrico...I called Dorothy to say hi. She says, she hopes it's ok with my Mum that she is going to become my adopted Jewish Mother/Grandmother. :-)
You are fantastic Dorothy. Thank you.

And Mum (as Happy Meyer says):

YOU ARE THE BEST.
BE HAPPY.
I LOVE YOU.

Now a little Jason Mraz because this time next weekend, Enrico will be walking around my apartment saying "Scema, your english isn't clear enough, can we have a real Torontonian translate for you"...jajajajajaja.

On my way to teach a lesson, I ran into a really cool woman that I met a few months back in a parking lot...she works around the corner from my place. We got to talking, she wants to make a change in her life but she just doesn't know how to do it...she's always been in Toronto. She doesn't like her job. She's tired. She said, oh, Italy, that's great, for you it is so easy.
hmm.
It's not easier for me than anyone else...I still think lots, worry a little, plan a little...freak out a little sometimes...

Dee, my Mum's best friend gave me a card once that showed a picture of a dog with a bone in its mouth, the bone had a string tied to it which was attached to a balloon that was now carrying both the bone and the dog into the sky....
she wrote,
Kate, when you get something stuck in your head, there's nothing that can stop you.

I know Dee, and Dee knows me...that was both a compliment and a statement.

She gave me this card before I left for Spain.
So the real answer is not that it is so easy for me as opposed to anyone else, it's just that I'm stubborn.
Testa di legno, says Enrico.
A pain in the ass, says my Mum. hahaha.

People should go for what they want more.
This is what I say to myself...if you want it, really want it, do it. And that's it. Once I've made up my mind...it's hard to stop me.

So I said to her, on the subway, Good Luck, I hope you do it...but my heart was screaming...

Switchfoot
Dare you to move

Welcome to the planet
Welcome to existence
Everyone’s here
Everyone’s here
Everybody’s watching you now
Everybody waits for you now
What happens next
What happens next

I dare you to move
I dare you to move
I dare you to lift yourself up off the floor
I dare you to move
I dare you to move
Like today never happened
Today never happened before

Welcome to the fallout
Welcome to resistance
The tension is here
Tension is here
Between who you are and who you could be
Between how it is and how it should be

I dare you to move
I dare you to move
I dare you to lift yourself up off the floor
I dare you to move
I dare you to move
Like today never happened
Today never happened

Maybe redemption has stories to tell
Maybe forgiveness is right where you fell
Where can you run to escape from yourself?
Where you gonna go?
Where you gonna go?
Salvation is here

I dare you to move
I dare you to move
I dare you to lift yourself up off the floor
I dare you to move
I dare you to move
Like today never happened
Today never happened
Today never happened
Today never happened before

I got a short contract with a Jewish non-profit for women and children and there is this sweet sweet woman, Dorothy, who absolutely makes my soul smile.

She just lost her husband recently, she's back to work, and she smiles and makes jokes and blows me kisses in the office. This woman is seriously fantastic.

People are still passing round and calling to give their condolences, and so she says to me the other day:

"What are you gonna do kid, someone told me once, You're only on this earth for a holiday."

~YOU'RE ONLY ON THIS EARTH FOR A HOLIDAY.

I made an awesome new friend, that's for sure.
